Organ console now situated in the Winter Gardens Blackpool ballroom was originally located in the Ambassador cinema Cosham

CINEMAS/THEATRES
Hampshire Portsmouth -- Cosham (SU6605), Odeon Theatre (Theatre), High Street, a Compton organ was installed talented organist Thomas Grosch delighting the first audience there.
Hampshire Portsmouth -- Landport (SU6401), Savoy Cinema (later ABC) (Cinema) [later Canon multi-screen, then closed] Upper Commercial Road. Reginald Porter Brown, played the Compton Wonder organ at the cinema opening on July 17, 1937. When the Compton was removed from the Savoy, it was transferred to the Baptist church in Devonshire Avenue, Southsea.
Hampshire Portsmouth -- North End (SU6502), Regent Cinema (Cinema) London Road, a Christie, installed in 1928.

compton thorngate

The Compton Cinema Organ was originally installed in the Gaumont Palace, Wood Green, London and was opened by Frederic Bayco 26 March 1934. It then moved to the Twickenham College of Technology in 1966. In 1980 the organ was on the move again, this time to the Thorngate Hall Gosport. The Compton was opened on Sunday 26 April 1981 by John Mann.
