Colin Carter At the Portland Oregon workshop of his old Mushroom bandmate Roger Giffin

It is with great sadness that I have to announce the passing of my long standing friend Colin Carter on 10th January in Oregon where he lived . We were in ‘Coconut Mushroom’ together from 1967 to 1972 and played all over the country and Europe. He was a great singer and front man.
After Mushroom disbanded he joined forces with Pete Banks ex guitarist from ‘Yes’ and formed ’ Flash’ who had some success in America and released 3 albums, he made his life in the States thereafter.
He was a regular visitor back to Portsmouth even attending Nigel’s open mic nights at Emsworth. In 2015 he came back to Portsmouth for a one off Coconut Mushroom reunion at the Dock Club Southsea which we all enjoyed and was a great success. He also recently released two solo CDs.
It was a sudden illness and a bit of a shock. He will be missed Rest in Peace Colin my friend.
