George and Doris Newman first started performing in 1949.
(piano and accordions). Performed mainly in Portsmouth venues occasionally supplemented by George Newman Senior (Drums and Alto Saxophone ) and or Haydn Rees (Drums).
In mid 50’s Doris added a Selmer Clavioline to be added to over the years by Farfisa, Wurlitzer, Lowrey, Hammond, Cassio and Yamaha keyboards. Mid 50’s Haydn Rees became permanent and George Creffield (Bass and Violin) joined. By late 50’s into 60’s had played in just about every pub/club venue locally and extended performances along the South Coast. Resident at South Parade Pier, Minor Hall, Theatre and Bar on the Briney during the mid 60’s to early 70’s.
Around 1968 Roy Browning joined as Drummer supplementing with Vibraphone. From the late 80’s Roy Laming joined on Drums. The band continued performing in Portsmouth and the South up till around 1991.
