David was born 2nd February 1932 in Portsmouth and died 16th March 2017 at Queen Alexandra Hospital, age 83.
He loved singing and would get up at the pub or club and sing Al Jolson songs and any of the 'old songs'.
As a young man he joined the Army and later the Merhant Navy, and finished his working life in Portsmouth Dockyard.
In 1981 he changed his surname name by deed pole to that of his hero Jolson.
