- Gerard's Bellhouse Boogie Night, 23rd October 2004. -

gk2002

The Seventh annual gathering of the GK Club took place at the Bellhouse Hotel in Beaconsfield on the 23rd October 2004. A fine room was packed with Gerard's followers, eagerly awaiting Mister Music. After a good meal, Gerard took the stage, and thanked everyone for 'making it through the rain' and burst straight into "Come rain or come shine".
Next came a new, slow, soft song, "Dance a little closer".
"All that Jazz", from Chicago was next on the list, and then a a request for Ken and Doreen, "The other woman, the other man".
The "Pavement princess", was then brought back to life, what a girl!
Michelle Legrand's, "What are you doing the rest of your life", was sung beautifully. "I believe I can fly", is one of Gerard's favourites, and he sung it with much feeling. Another oldie, "Music and words", which is Gerard's song for Drey, came next.
"Patricia the stripper", is a Chris De Burg song, and a new one for Gerard. Halfway thought the song, staunch Gerardette, Patricia stood up and started removing her clothing, much to the loud interest of the audience. Next emerged a policeman, with helmet and truncheon, otherwise know as Keith, her husband, and he chased her from the room before too much was removed!.
Next came the sing-a-long. "Bye bye Blackbird", and then a jazzy version of "Moon River". Gerard often sings Billy Joel's "New York State of mind", tonight was no exception.
We then had the Premiere of a new song, words by Rosie Morton to Gerard's music, "Is this forever/Love me today", not sure of the title, but it was very romantic and very nice. I am not jealous!
"Getting to know each other", his number one hit in the Phillipines was next, followed by, "Old Friend" After a few soft songs, the raucous and very loud, "New York New York", brought everyone to their feet.
Prooving his jazz talents, a "Girl Talk medley", was followed by his final song, "Now the curtain falls". The evening ended with no one wanting to move, but I had too get home. I can't wait for the next Annual GK Club Boogie Night.
