GERARD KENNY at The Copthorne Hotel, Gatwick, Surrey. 6th July 2002

Thanks to Mags and Dave for these photos, in particular the one with Gerard wearing his new hat.

The loyal and faithful of Gerard's fan's, all of whom are members of the GK Club, gathered at the Gatwick Copthorne Hotel in Surrey, to celebrate Gerard's birthday and for a night of merriment, food, fun, and a large helping of Gerard Kenny's music. It's was a great night. After a sumptuous meal, the now traditional 'interview' by Steve Cook, 'grilled' Gerard with many penetrating questions about his early life in and around New York, and also his family history. He was asked, "What was the first song you wrote?" and he played a few verses of 'I should have realised'. This was followed by what we had all come for. Gerard the master at the piano. He delighted us all with a varied and 'off the cuff' selection of songs performed so well. 100 minutes later the evening came to an end, with all the assembled asking the date for next years function. Here's a list of the songs he sang and played.
I should have realised.
Can you feel the love tonight.
Nickels and dimes.
Michael.
Mack the knife.
Old friends.
Birth of the blues.
You'll never know.
Bye bye blackbird.
Getting to know each other.
If I loved you.
Losing my mind.
Mad about the boy.
Play me some Porter please.
Anything goes.
Love.
Night and day.
I believe I can fly.
New York New York.
Fantasy.
Satin Doll/Lady is a tramp.
The impossible dream/ I made it through the rain.
