In the half darkness, the shadows of a new four man band for Gerard took the stage, Gerard was announced, there was silence, Gerard stuck his head round into the light, and said "You can clap now!" and they did. He kicked off with I am a singer, after which the band were introduced, Alan, Kevin, Alan and ???
Next was Just one of those things, which was followed by If I loved you and My Foolish heart. Gerard recalled that he once owned a yellow Volvo! Dancing my blues away, came next and then Fantasy. Gerard then remembered his dance as a bar piano player with Love story/Tie a yellow ribbon/My way. He then played The Piano Man, after his story about first meeting Billy Joel. He then spoke about this summer and his meeting with Princess Diana and they song he wrote with Alan Lehrner for Prince Harry, He played Brocades and Coronets, it was brilliant. Then his song for Spike Milligan, I'll go my way.c There was, what sounded like tudor chanting to bring in My Funny Valentine, played in a different style to previous times with Gerard not playing the piano. He sat on a stool front of stage. A great Bluesy version of Georgia, was followed by Gerard's rhythm medley, Fascinating rhythm/I got rhythm. The first half was ended with I could be so good for you. This nice little earner, earned Gerard a very warm round of applause.
Next half saw Gerard in his Gold and silver stars waistcoat, glittering in the spotlight.Son of a song and dance man, was followed by the title song from the new album All because of love. A very clever song, that I just want to hear again. Next came the Time between the Time. He then dedicated the next tune for me, and played the Entertainer. During this a sheet of paper slipped off of the piano, Gerard continued regardless.
After, The Other woman, came Nickels and dimes, and Do I love you. New York New York was played well but there was little reaction from the audience. It seems they were somewhat reluctant to whistle and shout "I love it"
After One lonely voice, gerard surprise everyone by picking up a guitar and singing the Doobie Bros song Long train running. During this song, there was a keyboard solo, in which Gerard wandered over to the other two standing at a microphone and the three of them did a shadows dance for a few bars!. Feet were stomping and hands clapping and there were a number of encores as Gerard went through Johnny B Goode, I made it through the rain, So in love and finished with Smile.
