Gerard Kenny at Sinah Warren, 19th January 2008

Gerard Kenny returned to Sinah Warren, part of the Warners Holiday Complex, on Hayling Island, in Hampshire today and received an amazing reception.
Before I say more of Gerard, let me mention the much better than average resident band called, Infinity Rising. Yes, and instantly forgetable name, but their music was not! It was excellent!
Three guys and a girl singer! Sadly I did not get her name but she was gorgeous and sounded even better than that. On Bass was Neil and on Drums was Chris with the very accomplished Alan on keyboards. They supported and backed Gerard perfectly.
Gerard began with a new song to him, "Can you feel the love tonight", and then straight into "All I care about is love", from Chicago.
A request for "Fantasy" followed and then one of his best known songs, "I could be so good for you".
A return to the old days with "Old fashion you and I" Then Gerard reminisced about his piano bar plaiting days, and played, "Lady is a tramp/Misty/Bye bye blackbird"
He then showed off his musical talent with the instrumental, "Ragtime" From that straight into Chuck Berry's rock'n'roll anthem "Johnny B Goode" which had the room rocking!
How many people have you heard say, So good they named it twice? well this song, written by Gerard, is where it originated! "New York, New York" Everyone joined in, the place erupted!
Gerard thanked Barry Manilow for the PRS royalties and sang "Made it through the rain"
The encore started with "That's what friends are for" and the evening was rounded off with "Smile"
Gerard signed CD's after and chatted with all, well into the early hours!
The GK Club Gang were there, Rosie and Pat and Keith. Also Ken and Doreen, and not to forget, so was Gerard's gorgeous wife Jenny. All too soon it was way past my bedtime, so I went home!
Another great night and a brilliant performance from the great man Gerard Kenny.
