The Titanic Connection???
Sydney Oliver Cooper

A COOPER resettlement order in 1738 was from the Parish of St Peter Chesil, Winchester to the Parish of St Thomas Winchester, geographically they are very close, St Peter’s at the bottom of the City by the river and St Thomas up the top of the High Street… Winchester was made up of about ten small parishes all surrounding the Cathedral with their own churches.

In 1738 the family maybe having hit some hard times turned up in the parish of St Peter Chesil looking for support (poor relief). St Peter’s church clerks have said no, your parish of birth (either Thomas, Mary or perhaps both) was St Thomas, so St Thomas Overseers agreed to take them in and have written to St Peter Chesil to say so. We know from their marriage record 23 Sep 1725, Thomas and Mary were both from St Thomas even though they married in All Saints Southampton which may be where Thomas was living/working in 1725.
