The Second Pier

Opened on 12th August 1908 and cost £70,000. and seated over 1000 in the theatre.
This pier also burnt down in 1974 during the filming of the film 'Tommy'

The bar at this end of the pier(pictured) had several names, The Bar on the Briny, and The Coral Reef Bar amongst them.

Three venues in one photograph below, The popular Savoy Ballroom block, The South Parade Pier, and the often forgotten Royal Beach Hotel.
Between the Savoy and the Royal Beach Hotel is Alhambra Road where Reg Bannistra, Bandleader and one time MU Secretary lived.
