CROMAT

The actual Tricorn Club lasted until Pleasurama took over the ownership in I believe around 1974/5? re-opening as Gabriellas then Granny`s with all the awful garden furniture.
Tuesday nights at the Tricorn were Cromat nights at first mingled in with regular Tricorn nights.
The name Cromat came from a coruption of the two names of Pete Cross and Ricky Martin - (Cro - Mat).
CROMAT opened Tuesday Jan 19th 1971 with Argent playing live and the DJ that week was Jeff Dexter the IOW Festival/London 'Underground' man, and it was six bob to get in.

The Cromat Club ran for a couple of years and simply faded.
Amongst the acts who appeared at Cromat were Uriah Heep, Paul Rogers, Paul Kossoff, Rhada Krista Temple,Focus, Barclay James Harvest, Vivian Stanshall, Roger Ruskin Spear and his Kanetic Wardrobe, Gentle Giant, Da Da, Vinegar Joe (with Robert Palmer and Elkie Brooks, Joe Brown`s Home Brew, Edgar Broughton Band, Pretty Things, Ginger Bakers Afro Band, Graham Bond, Alex Harvey Band.

The DJ that week was Jeff Dexter the IOW Festival/London 'Underground' man.
